The main objective of my project is the synthesis, characterization and investigation of innovative photoanodes for dye sensitized solar cells using CNTs/TiO2 and graphene/TiO2 composites.
A second project deals with the integration of colloidal quantum dots (QDs) in a flat cell geometry including proper modulation of electronic band alignment of the various components of the solar cell, including PbS and core-shell PbS-CdS QDs, ITO glass, CdS thin film and aluminum electrode.
A series of experimental techniques will be applied for materials characterization, including scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning tunneling microscopy (STM), atomic force microscopy (AFM), x-ray diffraction (XRD).
Solar cell fabrication and testing is planned aiming at understanding the role of the new nanomaterials in the determination of the photovoltaic behavior of the solar cells.
