A. Vomiero received his undergraduate training at the INFN Legnaro National Laboratories working on the growth, modification and structural characterization of thin films using physical vapor deposition techniques and ion beam analysis. He obtained his degree in Physics in 1999 from the University of Padova with scores 110/110 (Supervisor Prof. P. Mazzoldi). He was awarded his doctoral degree in Electronic Engineering in 2003 by the University of Trento (Supervisor Prof. G. Della Mea) defending a thesis on ion-matter interaction in organic scintillators for radiation detection and measurements.

His post-doctoral experience focused on the exploitation of the functional properties of single crystalline one dimensional nanostructures for gas sensing and, more recently, for light harvesting in solar cells. In 2005 Dr. Vomiero was appointed as Researcher at CNR Sensor Lab (former INFM Regional Lab). Since 2008 he is the coordinator at Sensor Lab of the new research line on excitonic solar cells, in which oxide nanowires and innovative nanomaterials are developed.

He is at NanoFemtoLab as a Marie Curie International Outgoing Fellow of the European Commission (7th Framework Programme) to develop a project entitled: “Förster resonant energy transfer for high efficiency quantum dot solar cells”.
