As part of a team focused on nanotechnologies, I’m doing my PhD with the goal of developing and improving ZnO-based nanoarrays used for detecting and other purposes. In fact, this wide band-gap semiconductor has gained considerable importance in recent years, for its electrical, mechanical and biological properties. For this reason it’s now the subject of detailed studies for multiple applications: photodetectors, sensors, solar cells, etc…

To carry out this research, I’ll make use of knowledge I’ve acquired  with Bachelor and Master’s degree in Materials Science: a multidisciplinary approach to solve scientific problems, especially the ones related to matter macroscopic properties and its connections with the microscopic materials structure. Moreover, since I carried out my master thesis work in a group involved in synthesis of novel hydrogels for cardiac regeneration cells growth, I’ve developed  interest in concrete applications of materials science, in different fields: solar cells and energy-related issues in general, biomaterials, antimicrobial activity, drug delivery, optoelectronics, and others…
